Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically composed of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end, elevated to 10 feet above the ground. Players advance the ball by dribbling (bouncing it while moving) or passing it to teammates. Points are scored through field goals, which can be worth two or three points depending on the player’s distance from the basket, and free throws, each worth one point, awarded after certain fouls. Basketball is characterized by its fast pace, skillful play, teamwork, and strategic elements, making it one of the most popular sports worldwide, both in recreational and competitive formats.
