NBA stands for the National Basketball Association, which is a professional basketball league in North America composed of 30 teams. It is widely regarded as one of the premier men’s professional basketball leagues in the world. The league was founded on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and later merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 to become the NBA. The NBA features some of the highest levels of competition in basketball and showcases many of the greatest players in the sport’s history. The league’s regular season runs from October to April, followed by playoffs that culminate in the NBA Finals each June.
