Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of nine players each, primarily on an outdoor field. The objective of the game is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat, then running around a series of bases arranged in a diamond shape. Players on the offensive team aim to hit the ball and reach base safely before the defensive team can get them out. The game consists of nine innings, where each team has a chance to bat and field. Teams score runs when players successfully complete a circuit of the bases, returning to home plate after touching each base in order. Baseball is known for its strategic elements, including pitching, batting, and fielding, as well as its rich history and cultural significance, particularly in countries like the United States, where it is often referred to as “America’s pastime.” The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Official Baseball Rules.
