Cricket

Cricket is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field with a central rectangular pitch. At each end of the pitch is a set of wooden wickets, which consist of three vertical stumps and two horizontal bails. The objective of the game is for one team to score runs while batting, and the other team to restrict runs and dismiss the batsmen while bowling and fielding.

The batting team attempts to score runs by hitting a ball, delivered by the bowler from the opposing team, with a cricket bat. The batsmen run between the wickets to accumulate runs, while the fielding team tries to get the batsmen out in various ways, including bowling the ball to hit the wickets, catching a hit ball before it touches the ground, or running out a batsman.

Cricket matches can vary in format, with the most recognized formats being Test matches (five days), One Day Internationals (50 overs per side), and Twenty20 (20 overs per side). Cricket is governed internationally by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and has a rich history, particularly in countries like England, Australia, India, and South Africa.
