Football

Football, known as soccer in some regions, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is typically played on a rectangular field, called a pitch, with goals at each end. Players primarily use their feet to control and pass the ball, though they can use any part of their body except their arms and hands; only the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is one of the most popular globally, with millions of fans and players. Major international competitions include the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Championship, and various domestic leagues such as the English Premier League and La Liga in Spain. Football is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, and it enjoys a significant cultural significance in many countries around the world.
